From Manna to Messiah

"Give us today, our daily bread"

When we pray this, we often think “daily bread” means “God, give me what I need today,” and that’s true, but incomplete. In the wilderness, God gave Israel manna daily to teach them to trust Him one day at a time. They failed, complaining and longing for what was familiar instead of trusting what was faithful. But Jesus shows up as the true and better bread. Where Israel failed to trust, Jesus trusted perfectly, even in His own wilderness. And through Him, we receive not just provision, but righteousness. Daily bread isn’t just something God gives, it’s Jesus Himself, given for us. Your hope isn’t in how well you trust God, but in how perfectly Jesus trusted Him for you. We rest in His finished work and His righteousness being given to us.
