One Single Aspen Leaf
Devotions from “Between the Ears” ~ Mission Mustang Ministry
“One single aspen leaf is small and by itself is hard to see but together “all of them as one” can cover a mountain.”
As I looked out “Between the Ears” of my mustang Valentine I was looking through a tunnel of gold. The trail floor was covered in aspen leaves and the trees themselves had created an archway of gold. As I looked beyond the golden tunnel all I could see was a mountain of gold. It mesmerized me to imagine how small one aspen leaf is but together how they can turn a whole mountain aglow.
In John 17:20-23 Jesus prays for his disciples and for future believers. “ My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, that all may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me. I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one - I in them and you in me - so that they may be brought to complete unity. Then the world will know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me.”
“Jesus prayed for unity among believers based on the believers’ unity with him and the father. Each branch living in union with its vine is united with all other branches doing the same” (Bible footnotes).
Jesus’ desire is for us as Christians to be in unity with him, God the Father and with each other, just as the small aspen leaf, together with the others can cover an entire mountain!
May you have a blessed day!
