Devotions from “Between the Ears” ~ Mission Mustang Ministry
“While I always try to share positive, uplifting posts on social media…. in reality my life, like all, are full of many struggles. I’m so thankful how God works in so many wonderful ways to restore my mind, body, and soul. He usually works His magic on me through a beautiful view that He created, a restful night sleep that He allowed, a breath of fresh air that He gave or through the reading of His word that He made possible.”
As I looked out “Between the Ears” of my mustang Valentine I was having a bit of a pity party for myself. I was tired, cold, not feeling well (my back injury was hurting and I had a bit of altitude sickness), and we were still miles from camp. I was thinking how most people go on vacation to rest, relax and rejuvenate themselves, while Pete and I chose to travel with a couple of our horses to camp and ride in some extremely rugged and rough country. With this wonderful opportunity comes a lot of work and at times, little sleep and a not so comfortable of environment.
On this day I was riding behind Pete on his mustang, Spirit. I was feeling sorry for myself and really NOT paying attention to what God had meant for me to enjoy. I was looking down instead of out where I could see all the beauty that God had created. I had my chin tucked to my chest in an effort to stay warm and all the while, grumbling to myself about how miserable I was; when between the ears of mustang Valentine, God laid a pristine blanket of white snow with a sprinkling of yellow aspen leaves out in front of me. It was if God had said to me; “enough with the pity party, look up and see all the treasures that I created for you. They will strengthen and restore you.”
“And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast.”
1 Peter 5:10 NIV
I know deep in my heart that I should always be grateful for all God has allowed me to do and see but I also know I am human; therefore I am so thankful for His grace in forgiving me when I can’t always see his blessings when I am suffering. I am ultimately grateful for the assurance of an eternal life with Christ, where there will be no further suffering!
Revelations 21:4 NIV says “He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.”
May you have a blessed day!
